Darise Taynard ascended to the throne of Bersenia in the absence of a male heir. Known as a fair ruler and a skilled diplomat, she has strengthened ties with the Kingdom of Silvegurd. Together with her sons, she holds undisputed authority over Bersenia.
Gareth Taynard
Gareth Taynard, husband to Queen Darise, bears the title of Duke of Dencaster. Born into House Toywell, he took the name Taynard upon his marriage to the future Queen, and was raised to his ducal rank thereafter. Upon her ascension, he was granted a seat in the High Council, alongside Princess Sidonia, the Queen’s sister. When his sons came of age, both Gareth and Sidonia withdrew from the Council, yielding their place to the princes in accordance with custom
Kieran Taynard
Kieran Taynard is the heir to the throne of Bersenia. Upon reaching his twentieth year, he was granted the title of Prince of Eshye by his aunt, Princess Sidonia, securing his place upon the High Council in accordance with tradition. Though young, he is well regarded among the Bersenian nobility as a serious and disciplined heir, expected to follow in the path of his mother.
Kuno Taynard
Kuno Taynard is the younger brother of Prince Kieran and second in line to the throne. Upon reaching his twentieth year, he was elevated by his mother to the title of Prince of Estana, taking his seat upon the High Council in place of his father, Duke Gareth Taynard. Little is firmly known of him, though among the Bersenian nobility there are frequent whispers of a more indulgent and frivolous disposition.
Merisa Taynard
Merisa Taynard is the youngest daughter of Queen Darise, and the only remaining princess of Bersenia. Her elder sister, Princess Aliara, died in childhood, leaving Merisa as the sole daughter of the Queen. She is regarded as one of the most sought-after matches of her generation. It is held that the Queen favours a union within Bersenia, preferring to keep her daughter close to the realm rather than see her wed beyond it.
Vaela Taynard
Vaela Taynard is one of the Queen’s two nieces, alongside her sister, Lady Elera. She is the daughter of Princess Sidonia, sister to Queen Darise. Though no princely title was extended to the daughters of Sidonia, Vaela remains closely tied to the royal line. As such, she is regarded as a favourable match among those who seek closer bonds with House Taynard.
